The designs were originally painted using watercolours giving the prints a softer, organic edge, while an expressive palette of playful yet on-trend colour combinations find balance with classic neutral shades. Kirkby’s take on the ubiquitous checkerboard trend, alternating rectangles are broken by fine stripes adding detail to a geometric classic. The painterly, analogue effect of watercolour is achieved through digital print, picking up beautiful details of the original, hand-painted artwork.
