Zinc Textile Sweets Chartreuse

Architecture and fabrics unite in this innovative collaboration between Zinc Textile and Antwerp based studio Dieter Vander Velpen Architects, whose noteworthy portfolio spans bespoke projects across the globe. In this meeting of surface and structure, the rhythmic patterns of natural materials influenced the organic shapes and playful mix of tactile qualities, including velvets and jacquards that play with the contrast of matt and shine. Showcasing Zinc’s eclectic design language and Dieter Vander Velpen Architects contemporary edge, little importance is placed on everything matching but more on everything matters. Subtle nods to Zinc’s classic glam glimmer through the architecturally inspired designs that pay homage to the patterns found in marble, travertine, wood and sculptural shapes.

Sweets, a tapestry-like velvet, reminiscent of a timeworn, much-loved needlepoint carpet is woven from vivid yarns that create a landscape of undulating pattern. Much like a changeant (or shot) velvet, the colour of Sweets shifts playfully from every angle.

‘Sweets is a more colourful iteration of the Guilin fabric, a happy accident born out of the same experiment as we explored different ways of creating this pattern. We loved both fabrics so much that they both made the cut.’ Patricia
