Architecture and fabrics unite in this innovative collaboration between Zinc Textile and Antwerp based studio Dieter Vander Velpen Architects, whose noteworthy portfolio spans bespoke projects across the globe. In this meeting of surface and structure, the rhythmic patterns of natural materials influenced the organic shapes and playful mix of tactile qualities, including velvets and jacquards that play with the contrast of matt and shine. Showcasing Zinc’s eclectic design language and Dieter Vander Velpen Architects contemporary edge, little importance is placed on everything matching but more on everything matters. Subtle nods to Zinc’s classic glam glimmer through the architecturally inspired designs that pay homage to the patterns found in marble, travertine, wood and sculptural shapes.

Siam, an uber textural eyelash yarn scatters across a rich velvet ground, creating a blanket of diagonal marks with a simplified naivety to them reminiscent of rainfall. A dimensional upholstery cloth, Siam is super-soft to the touch and creates maximum impact with its rich jewel-like palette.



‘Siam is one of my favourites and it started with me making a simple sketch of little lines in movement, where I could see raindrops in the markings, creating this asymmetrical design that is incredibly versatile and looks very cool.’ Dieter
